Been wondering how that new 6Gbps SATA interface and Marvell controller have been treating Intel’s latest SSDs? The answer, it turns out, is really rather nicely. Faced off with OCZ’s awesomely quick Vertex 3 drive, the 250GB SSD 510 from Intel more than holds its own, occasionally flashing ahead and taking the lead. Opting for Marvell’s processing chip has improved Intel’s sequential performance, but has actually led to it taking a ding on random read speeds — the latter being arguably more important on a day-to-day basis. Still, this $584 drive is one of the finest the consumer world has yet had to feast upon and should encourage high expectations from Intel’s 25nm G3 storage units, which are still to come. As to having the extra Serial ATA bandwidth, we’ll leave it to Anand from AnandTech to summarize: “these next-generation SSDs not only use 6Gbps SATA, they really need it.”

The purpose? To release the decidedly high-end T500 RS wheel, the controller designed to abolish memories of all the plasticy racing controllers that have come before from the company. Think Twitter’s going to follow Facebook and lend its brand to a smartphone? Think again. Twitter CEO Dick Costello said during his Mobile World Congress keynote yesterday that while he does see a need to better integrate Twitter into existing platforms for phones, he sees no need for a Twitter-branded smartphone. Costello cited the ability to take a picture on an Android phone and automatically tweet it as an example of that integration he’d like to see, and further added that he would like to see “more single sign-on experiences,” and “more apps that can tweet without having to go to another app.” Interestingly, Costello also revealed that 40 percent of all tweets come from mobile devices, and that fully half of all active Twitter users are active on more than one platform.

P.S. We should note that Costello seems to have overlooked the trailblazing TwitterPeek, along with everyone else.

We really should send a message to phone manufacturers and stop covering these tiny little leaks of controlled information, but when it’s a phone with dual cameras and a 3D display we’re talking about, we can’t help it. Every minute detail must be digested and analyzed. There’s a fast-moving video awaiting your Sherlockian wits after the break, or you can hit the source link for a gallery of screen captures that highlight the construction details of LG’s upcoming Optimus 3D. Look for it to stop being a fancy render and become a corporeal entity at MWC early next week.

It’s finally here, folks. The Chronic Dev Team has put out the latest version of greenpois0n that allows you to free your iDevice running 4.2.1. What’s different about this jailbreak? Glad you asked. This time ’round, the program will let you perform an untethered jailbreak — you can finally reboot the device without having to re-jailbreak. Be warned though — this build was rushed out and we haven’t tested any devices on our end. At the time of this writing, the software is only available for Mac. Oh, and unlockers, don’t update to 4.2.1 if you plan on swapping sim cards in the future. Hit the source link to get started.
